Data-bodies-territories

The project “Data-Bodies-Territories” focuses on the intertwining of datafication processes with extractive processes in the territory of Abya Yala. Building upon the category of body-territory, derived from the activism of women and land defenders in Abya Yala, we aim to analyze the complex relationships between body-territories and the body-Earth territory (Cabnal, 2010), within the context of datafication processes. Through the testimonies of various communities, ranging from work in data labeling to the use of facial recognition at borders, as well as resistance against the construction of data centers, we will explore how these communities confront the forces of extractive capitalism associated with the digital economy.
